Modern and efficient machine fleet

Not only are we committed to environmental protection, we are also committed to progress. This is why we are always on the lookout for the latest and most innovative machines for our complex production line to raise our already excellent quality to an even higher level.

We upgrade all technical manufacturing components that fail to correspond to the latest state of the art in favor of energy efficiency and in our pursuit of the highest quality standards. This places us in the position to be able to offer the best possible products and at the same time save up to 50 percent in energy compared to the international standard.

Renewable energies produced in-house

We not only try to reduce our energy consumption, we also generate energy ourselves! To do so, we have installed powerful photovoltaic modules on the roof of the company building at our premises in Diss. We cover a large part of our energy requirements each year with the renewable energies we generate ourselves – without placing an additional burden on the environment. This is because it is not only important to us that we save energy, but also where it comes from.

We have been relying on green energies for many years and are constantly adding to the number of solar modules we have installed: in fact, we added the last modules this fall. We take responsibility for ensuring that our end product is part of an all-round resource-saving manufacturing process!

Electric cars for lower emissions

In addition to solar modules, 4Packaging has its own company-owned electric cars, which allow us to move around during our regular workweek without producing any emissions. To round off the package, we have also, of course. installed charging stations right next to our company building. This allows both us and our customers to charge their cars with green energy directly on site.

As making the switch to low-emission e-mobility represents a pioneering approach, we are in the process of gradually converting our entire company fleet to electric cars. Our newest family member is the BMW i3 in 4Packaging design! We always keep a close eye on our CO2 balance and try to continuously reduce our emission levels.

We conserve fresh water resources

Water is the foundation of life and that's why it should be used responsibly and not wasted. Our entire production is designed to use the least amount of water possible. The treatment of all industrial wastewater we produce at the company is a key aspect of this, because it allows us to reuse the water in the production process.

By treating the water, we significantly reduce the amount of fresh water we consume. The respectful use of resources is particularly important to us. This is why we reflect at regular intervals on where we can take a further step to conserve resources of all kinds at various stages in our production chain.

A sustainable product is one that has been developed respecting the environment
and the people who are part of the production chain. From the collection of raw materials, the
processing to the transportation of the articles.

And what about your environmental footprint?

Sleeve recycling for less scrap metal

The sleeve recycling we undertake at 4Packaging is unique around the world: besides recycling gravure cylinders, we also recycle embossing sleeves. Instead of discarding old cylinders and sleeves and simply producing scrap metal from them, our process allows them to be re-imaged and re-used for a lifetime.

Just like with rotogravure cylinders, we reduce the surface of your pre-engraved aluminum sleeves and apply a new layer of zinc until the sleeve has the specified dimensions again. By doing so, we make your cylinders and sleeves ready for re-engraving – without any loss in quality! Helping you to easily save a significant amount of resources in your production chain.

Final visual inspection without using additional resources

Our Warp4 visual inspection process is the most advanced and, above all, the safest method for verifying gravure cylinders. Our trained staff compare the digital data directly with the engraving image, so that any discrepancies become immediately apparent.

Since there is no need to use a proofing device, the solvents, inks and substrates normally required also become superfluous. By doing so, we also provide our staff with another clean workstation where the use of chemicals is not required. This is because the health of our employees is important to us. Protect the environment and choose the most reliable method of quality assurance!

Up to 50 percent less ink consumption in rotogravure

The use of Cellaxy-engraved gravure cylinders allows a significant amount of ink to be saved in the printing process! In fact, between 20 and 50 percent can be saved depending on the application: consumption is reduced by 20 percent for white surface applications, 30 percent for chromatic colors, and up to 50 percent for matte coating applications and light foundations – and all this with a higher print quality! The cylinders provide for better smoothness and faster drying composite materials thanks to less ink being applied. What is more, the laser technology used does away with the sawtooth effect and even very fine characters can be represented.

Increased print quality, fewer chemicals to dispose of, shorter lead times and the reduced consumption of energy and resources coupled with consistent printing processes make sure that both you and the environment win!

Digital packaging development in 3D

We offer the digital alternative to the conventional resource and time-consuming method of packaging development: photo-realistic images and videos of your packaging that simulate all the materials, finishes and colors realistically. This allows you to view different design ideas – even in direct comparison to one another if you wish – as videos or images.

In many cases, this makes the use of additional resources for creating mock-ups and barrel proofs obsolete. What is more, digital data is available worldwide without any time delay, which makes undertaking cost-intensive trips for coordination purposes not absolutely necessary. Therefore allowing both emissions and the use of resources to be reduced.

“It has always been our aim to produce our printing dies and services in such a way that has the least possible impact on the environment. This is why we are constantly investing in new processes that make this possible. It is also why we are the best possible and most environmentally-friendly partner for you in this industry."
